Reconciliation Day
April 2nd is Reconciliation Day, a tradition started by famous columnist Ann Landers. I still remember reading her column in the paper for all kinds of advice. The point of Reconciliation Day is to reach out to others and make some small step towards mending broken relationships with a family member, friend or business associate. I love this idea and chose my 1st action to write and send a note to an elderly member of my community who is kind but lonely and sometimes places great demands on my time. Boundaries are important but I wanted to let her know I care. From a business perspective I think for today…

Start Fresh January 2015
New Beginnings We are now well into the new year with the opportunity to start fresh in 2015. I love this time of year because it represents new beginnings, a time of reflection, and forming new dreams and goals. It’s also my birthday month so it personally represents growth for me, the passage of chronological time, and a time to celebrate. January also represents a fresh start for your business and it’s the perfect time to look at the past year and see how well you hit your goals and reflect on the changes you need to incorporate to make 2015 your best year ever. Everyone is talking about new…

Choose to Pursue Excellence
One of the biggest obstacles to success online is that instead of the pursuit of excellence people make the mistake of pursuing perfection. Have you ever been guilty of this? I certainly have. The problem is perfection can not be obtained and if that becomes your goal you will find yourself frustrated and procrastinating on getting things done and let your fear of not “being good enough” hold you back and interfere with your productivity. You will continually fall short in your eyes and that will lead to even more procrastination. It becomes a vicious cycle. When you choose to pursue excellence you put forth your best efforts understanding that…

Gmail and Google Drive are Down Today!
Gmail and Google Drive are down today, experiencing technical difficulties. Yikes! How dependent are you on Gmail? It’s frozen like a good snowstorm. Although they are working on the problem it can be so frustrating, especially when you need to do business with your Gmail account. This is a good reminder to have other channels to conduct business on – Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin and Skype to name a few. With accounts on these different platforms you can avoid being completely dependent on your Gmail account for communication when problems arise. And problems will occur. It’s just a matter of time. Don’t let the Google glitch slow you down and become…

This week Amazon made a major change that will affect how much a buyer will need to spend to qualify for free shipping. If you are a Prime member this will not affect you. It seems like everything is going up these days! This price change comes just ahead of the busy holiday shopping season. No surprise here! The minimum order size needed to get free shipping has been raised from $25 to $35…

Keyword Planner Instructions
Let’s take the mystery out of the Keyword Planner. Most of us online have been using the free Google Keyword Tool for research to find the keywords or terms that people are using when they do a search on Google or the other search engines such as Bing and Yahoo! Using keywords helps us design our posts and websites so people will find the information they need. Google has now changed the tool to what is called the Keyword Planner and it is fairly simple to use. Don’t let the new changes derail you. I know it can be frustrating with all the new Google updates going on and it…

Gmail Tabs Got You Fuming?
I have multiple Gmail accounts and am enjoying the new tabs on some of my accounts but have decided on others I like the option to go back to the old style of Gmail delivery. Particularly accounts where I don’t receive a lot of email, the Gmail tabs serve no useful purpose. Plenty of people hate the new tabs, especially the promotions tab, where so many of their marketing emails are now getting sent perhaps never to be seen. As marketers this can be challenging and you may not like the change. If you are angry and frustrated by the new Gmail tabs feature there is a very easy fix.…

Gmail Promotion Tabs are Great!
In the last few weeks Google has rolled out their new Gmail tabs bar that separates your Gmail into 5 main tabs: Primary – Personal conversations (Can’t be moved) Social – Emails such as Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Etc Promotions – Marketing emails and offers Updates – Statements, invoices, and automated updates Forums – Any online groups and forums you belong to Love it or hate it here are some things to keep in mind.
